How to Choose a Sanding Machine

Choosing the right sanding machine depends on several basic factors. Below are the three most important considerations you should know before selecting a machine.

1. Working Piece Size

First, you must know the maximum and minimum size of your working pieces. The working width of the sanding machine must be larger than the maximum width of the panels. For example, if the maximum width of your pieces is 1.2 meters, you should select a sanding machine with a working width of at least 1.3 meters.

2. Stock Removal Requirements

Second, consider how much stock needs to be removed. If your working pieces have uneven thickness or rough surfaces and you need to remove 1 mm or more in one pass, a planer sander is recommended. However, if the surface has already been processed and only requires fine sanding, a double-belt sander may be sufficient.

3. Current Working Process

Lastly, consider the stage of your production line where the sanding machine will be used. If the machine is for material preparation before assembly, choose accordingly. If it will be used for sanding primer in the painting section, a lacquer sander is necessary. These are the basic factors when choosing a suitable sanding machine. Of course, according to different production requirements, the factory can recommend the most suitable configuration based on your actual situation.
