There are two main types of planer rollers used in knife planer sanders: the standard type and the heavy duty type.
The standard type planer roller is matched with square planer blades. The blade size is 15 × 15 × 2.5 mm, and the blades are originally manufactured in Germany. This type is suitable for sanding rough surface boards and glued panels in regular production conditions.
The heavy duty type planer roller is matched with rectangular planer blades. The blade size is 30 × 12 × 2.5 mm, also made in Germany. Compared with the standard type, it offers higher stock removal capacity and is more suitable for heavy sanding applications.
Both types of planer rollers are widely used for sanding rough surface boards and glued panels such as jointed panels, block boards, and similar materials. The main difference lies in material removal capacity, with the heavy duty type removing more material in a single pass than the standard type.
